20. PURSERS/CABIN MANAGERS/CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGERS (SHORT-HAUL)

20.1 Pursers/Customer Service Managers (short-haul) (Qantas Only)

20.1.1 Promotion to Purser/Customer Service Manager (short-haul) must be by merit.

20.1.2 The Flight Attendant will be appointed to the position of Purser/Customer Service Manager (short-haul) upon commencement in training school. After successful completion of training and 3 month’s successful operating experience as a Purser/Customer Service Manager (short-haul), the position must be confirmed. If a transfer to another base is required on appointment the purser is responsible for all costs associated with the transfer.

20.1.3 Subject to satisfactory service, a Purser/Customer Service Manager (short-haul) will be unable to relinquish that position for a minimum period of 12 months from the date that they commenced training. If a Purser/Customer Service Manager (short-haul) wishes to relinquish that position and return to Flight Attendant duties, notice of at least two roster months must be given. However, the 12 month period may be waived by agreement.

20.1.4 The process of selection must be agreed between the parties.

20.2 Pursers/Cabin Manager (Ansett Only)

20.2.1 Purser/Cabin Manager Vacancies

The Employer will advertise all network vacancies for Pursers/Cabin Manager. Such vacancy list will specify the number of vacancies available in each base, and alert Flight Attendants of possible consequential vacancies.

20.2.2 Upon completion of training the Flight Attendant will be appointed to the position of Purser/Cabin Manager. If a transfer to another base is required on appointment, the Purser/Cabin Manager will be responsible for all costs associated with the transfer.

20.2.3 When appointed the Purser/Cabin Manager will commence duties at the beginning of the next roster period, unless otherwise advised.

20.2.4 The minimum period of appointment as a Purser/Cabin Manager is 12 months. If a Purser wishes to relinquish the position and return to Flight Attendant duties, notice of at least two roster months must be given. However, the 12 month minimum period may be waived by agreement.
